My name is Oriana Faith Principe – Falcione and I was part of the Arden Summer Camp Program, and I LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT! All the counselors and campers were so amazing. I learned so much from just the 3 weeks of that camp. But the one thing that I will never forget was when one of the counselors, Steve said, “When you are singing and your voice cracks, that is healthy tension, you just have to relax and concentrate on going higher than your range!” I loved when he told that to us because when I sing and try to go above and beyond my range, I usually feel a little stupid because I can’t hit that high note, but now I know that it just means that I have to relax and focus on hitting it.
Also, the campers that I meet were the most creative, artistic, and funniest kids I have ever met. They were so kind, and when any of us would mess up, or make a fool out of ourselves, no one would laugh or make us feel stupid. No matter what we always had each other’s backs. We were all so close, that by the last day we were all in tears. We had never met before this camp but it felt like we knew each other for years, and that is what the counselors would ask, and we would all laugh and say no!
This camp was the most amazing experience of my life, and I wish and will try to go next year. It was so fun and so very different from any other acting camp I have ever been in! I just wish that it wasn’t just three weeks, I believe, (and I am not the only one thinking this way) that it should be for a whole month. That would be so incredible! For anyone who is thinking about joining for next year, it is not even a question you should just join.
(I miss everyone from last year and I hope to see you all again next year! Also, I miss lunch time in the lobby when we would all watch RENT and sing and dance along to it!)
My name is Maddie Addis, and I also attended the Arden Drama School, and it was amazing! Everyone was so supportive, as Oriana said, and it was just overall a fantastic experience. My personal favorite part of the camp was when one day, after lunch, we were sort of goofing off in the Arcadia, playing 'Seasons of Love' from Rent on the piano and 'staging' it, just for fun. Then Ben and Steve (The counselors!) came in, and decided to put it into our performance! The camp was a wonderful learning experience, and I also LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE.
My name is Abigail Perlman and I also went to the Arden Summer camp. It was so much fun and an incredible experience. Everybody from the camp was so supportive and the teachers were amazing. I loved knowing that the teachers are real actors, so I knew that they knew what they were doing. I also loved how the teachers didn't just control the whole camp, they let us have a say in stuff, they even added Seasons of Love into our show, which was just something that we were doing for fun. A loved the camp and will definately be returning next year.
I like when the sharks came. It was funny. The background is not.
